Sell something on ebay...or pawn something if you have diamonds or a guitar or other musical instrument.

Do you have any friends or family who can loan you some money?

I know how hard it is when you start a new job, that first week is a pain in the butt. If your back is against the wall and you think not having money this week might effect you getting to and from work and/or eating, then you might want to bring it up to your supervisor and ask for a small advance. A lot of companies have petty cash that they can borrow from and give to you. I wouldn't be worried about asking, just make sure you make it clear that you are asking to borrow from the company and not personally from your boss. If your boss offers though, take it. This is probably going to be your best bet.

Tough place to be.

Uhmm.

1) Pawn something of value... (loan) nothing sentimental.

2) Call your landlord and try to negotiate a temporary extension or a double payment the next rent .... if he/she looks like they almost agreed but refused offer a small fee. (have proof of new employment handy)

3) Find a problem with your apartment and withhold rent until its fixed, but don't damage anything. It will back fire. Look up landlord-tenant laws in your area.

4)Ask a friend or family member for help... maybe a just partial payment to assist option 1,2 or 5.

5) If you have a credit card get a cash advance, but pay it off A.S.A.P. with your first paycheck!

Good Luck! Been there done that.

Don't try to evade or ignore your landlord and don't withhold rent by telling them something is broke or whatever, they can and will charge you late fees. The best thing to do is call the landlord right away, fill them in on your situation and ask them what you should do. All they want is the rent they deserve and understand things come up. As long as you are calling them and working with them they will work with you. If they don't I suggest you move.

Sell something of value to a pawn shop...they will usually keep it without selling it for 30 days. So basically you are putting whatever it is up for collateral to get a loan. Wouldn't suggest doing this regularly...Good Luck

if you explain to your landlord most will allow you to defer your rent until you get paid as long as you get a letter from your employer confirming that you are working and will be getting paid.

Strap a mattress to your back.
